Undoubtedly, a fantastic comedy directed by Robert Zemeckis is one of the most memorable events in the world cinema of the 80s. Time travel in general is a very interesting thing, and as much as it is played in “Back to the Future”, it is completely unique. If about the mention of the “time machine” you immediately recall “Ivan Vasilyevich is changing his profession”, then a big surprise awaits you. Directed by Zemeckis - master of the adventure genre, and his trilogy about the teenage travels Marty McFly - the only one of its kind. That's because it combines very well the genres of family comedy, fiction, and even action movie. Personally, with such a reference, I immediately recall the “Indiana Jones” trilogy and Zemekis' previous work “Roman with a stone”.
When watching such films, the mind switches to some special wave, and after the final credits there are so many impressions left that it is very difficult to relate what was viewed to any one genre direction. “Back to the Future” is not perceived as an ideal movie, it even has a certain length of narrative, but even decades later it can be revised again and again. That is, to imagine seen in such films as something different, in a different sequence or with other actors, does not even work. For Michael Jay Fox, the role of Marty McFly is unambiguously the best, just like Doc Brown played by Christopher Lloyd. I would especially like to mention Thomas F. Wilson in the role of Biff Tannen, who turned out to be one of the funniest “bad guys” in this genre.
The main character of the film is Marty McFly, the most common American teenager of the 80s. He, of course, likes Star Wars, rock'n'roll, and beautiful girls. At the same time, there is one peculiarity - it does not endure when it is called a "coward" or somehow hints at the most primitive rivalry. By the way, this particular chip is constantly used against him in all three films. His friend Doc has another obsession - science in all its manifestations, which led to the construction of the miracle-cars based on GMS. But as a result, the most interesting thing here is not how the movement takes place in time, but what kind of funny situations the main character gets into when he has to meet his very young parents and make sure that in the future the Macflay family will remain as it was for him to travel.
The first part of the trilogy, in fact, is so good precisely because of the actor’s work and the rather original idea with the possibility of changing the course of history, which received maximum development in the third part. In the original, Marty and Doc are only “experimenting” with time travel, and even then due to an accidental combination of circumstances. In the film there are no stunning special effects or outstanding scope of what is happening. But the rest is very good, including the attractive scenery of the 1950s and a lot of witty jokes. In addition, there are several moments that really make you worry about the main characters. The constant clashes of the McFly family with Tannen, the funny Dock with insane eyes, the fantastic DeLorean, the ability to change the future from the past - all this made “Back to the Future” the classics of the genre.
In my opinion - an excellent fantastic comedy by Robert Zemeckis, a five-minute masterpiece.
