Going to the cinema, I expected to see an interesting film about the circus, filled with bright colors and beautiful tricks. And in general, I got what I wanted.
The plot can not be called intricate, rather the opposite: the grandfather tells the story of his arrival in the circus. A story that turned his life around.
The screen shows a young student, Jacob (Robert Pattinson), who loses his parents and is left without means of livelihood. In desperation, he walks along the rails and spontaneously jumps into a passing train. Is this fate, but there is a circus in the train. Jacob realizes that this is his chance, that during the Great Depression, he is unlikely to find a better shelter.
So begins his life in a circus. The manure cleaner attracts the attention of the circus director (Christoph Waltz) and becomes a veterinarian. Immediately he meets the beautiful director's wife (Reese Witherspoon) and instantly falls in love with her.
But no, friends, not the love line is the basis of the film. In my opinion, this is the relationship of people and animals. And here we are getting acquainted with the elephant Rosie. She seems mediocre, stupid and lazy, but not the same - it is very easy to come to an agreement with her, and how, you will find out, after watching the movie. The only question is - why was the whiskey drunk the whole movie? And where is the water?
Returning to the main characters, I can not express my disappointment in the game of Robert Pattinson. In the film, I saw Edward (especially in the episode with a kiss). The same facial expression all the time. Robert, can you play other characters? About Reese Witherspoon I can say that she was very cute in circus outfits and played for the top five. Separately, I want to say about the excellent game of Christoph Waltz, who very successfully played the tyrant Augustus.
In the end, throwing back the not very skillful game of Robert Pattinson and the well-known banality of the plot, I put the film
8 out of 10
