"Admit it, every one of you wanted to be a superhero."
It is from these words that the tape begins under the rather youthful name "Kick-Ass". Indeed: at least once in life, but everyone wanted to try on the guise of the superman. Someone because of the possession of superpowers, someone because of the ability to court and protect the offended, someone because of the stylish suit. So was Dave Lizevski - a loser, loser, gray mouse. The desire to be liked by a classmate, the injustice on the streets and the fanaticism of the comics did their job, and very soon Dave puts on a green-yellow suit and, armed only with "A mixture of naivety and optimism", is sent to do good deeds. Such is the plot.
The film can be divided into two parts. The first one is comedic. In her, in general, “Kick-Ass” looks like a banter over all superhero blockbusters, parodying cliches and primitive pathos. A sea of jokes, situations and fun immerses us into the atmosphere of a parody, but not the same as we were shown in the "Superhero movie". Here everything is of high quality, jokes are sometimes vulgar, but still not as much as in the aforementioned film. Separately, I would like to note the relationship Ubivashki and Papani. It would seem that the two brutal murderers who kill the villains, such a "good with their fists," but when they begin to communicate - there is no limit to tenderness.
But the second half puts a surprise. According to the trailer, the impression was created that “Kick-Ass” was a youth comedy parody of superhero movies. But do not forget that the director, Matthew Vaughn, once produced the films of Guy Ritchie, in particular “Cards, Money, Two Barrels” and “Big Kush”, and then the heavy drama “Harry Brown”. And here "Kick-Ass" shows its true appearance, switching from an unlucky comedy to a crime thriller about revenge, in the spirit of "Kill Bill." Here you will see drama, incredible fights, and brutal murder scenes. All this is done all the same with a bit of humor, but the seriousness is felt.
In the end, we have a fairly high-quality creation, which does not claim to be the laurels of giants of the criminal genre, but Kick-Ass feels pretty well among the comedy fighters. Yes, jokes are sometimes vulgar, and some scenes are rather cruel, but human nature is such that it is precisely to this kind of entertainment that we are drawn more and more.
