"Pretty Woman" is definitely in the top ten of my favorite movies. The film can rightly be called a classic of American cinema. Beautiful, romantic, bright, giving hope for happiness and faith in a brighter future. There are many similar films, but it is no coincidence that this particular one holds a special, privileged position among others. At first glance, the plot is quite simple, even banal. Due to the unfortunate coincidence of circumstances, the poor girl becomes a prostitute, accidentally meets a millionaire, they fall in love with each other ...
Edward is a young millionaire who made a big fortune, occupies a large position in society, and is not deprived of female attention. At first glance, everything is all right, but if you look closely, he is a lonely person, surrounded by such unpleasant and double-faced types as Stakki, who care only about personal gain. He is divorced, no woman can withstand his hard schedule. Edward is buying up large ruined companies and selling them in parts more expensive. He mechanically makes major financial transactions, without worrying about their moral side. This is evident in the case of Morse. Having met Vivien, he looks back, in a different way estimates the acts. Before us is no longer a cold, calculating businessman, but a simple man with his own pain in his heart. His father left them with his mother, leaving them without a livelihood. Edward took revenge on him, but the pain remained. Next to Vivien, he remembers his dreams, his plans. He changes, loses his composure and begins a new life with Vivien.
Vivienne - a beautiful, dreamy girl, by the will of fate became a prostitute. Once she dreamed of a prince, but her dreams were shattered, faced with reality. She obeyed the new conditions, drowning out all the feelings in herself. Meeting with Edward allowed her to realize her position, awakened in her struggle against the situation.
The film is interesting every detail, every phrase. One of the favorite episodes is the Vivien shopping trip. I remember the dialogue with a smile:
“We will need helpers. We want to spend an indecent lot of money. And let us have a good lick - we like it.
- Sorry, sir, I'm worried. How much indecent amount are you going to spend: indecent or flagrantly obscene?
- Vopische - obscene!
“What a man!”
The acting is awesome! Simplicity, naturalness, skill. Julia Roberts and Richard Gere have a lot of good movies, but it’s not by chance that this is a favorite of many people!
The film complements the stunning soundtrack.
10 out of 10
