I love old movies. Not because I want to be a true connoisseur of cinema, but just love. When you watch black-and-white films, you open the door to the past and watch how everything was in the distant years, what clothes people wore, what culture of communication was adopted. “Casablanca” is a classic of cinema, and in particular, of American melodrama, so all fans of this genre, I think, should see this picture.
In the center of events is a city in northern Africa - Casablanca, which is a transit point for wealthy people who escaped from the occupied France by the Nazis. Those who have money, get a visa and fly to Lisbon, and from there - to America, to the New World. Those who have no money, stay in Casablanca for a long time, if not forever.
The main character Rick is one of the few who does not pursue the goal of leaving the city. He keeps a gambling club, which is usually crowded in the evenings. Rick is a cynical and prudent man who, according to the local police perfect, is not even "interested in women." However, one day Ilse’s former mistress comes to his club with her husband, Victor Laszlo, who is a fugitive of the Nazi concentration camp and a fighter of anti-fascist resistance. Lazlo needs a visa that he can only get from Rick. Ilse will have to ask for help from her former lover, as well as find out with him the reasons for their break ...

The whole attraction of this picture is that, not differing in any ingenious or confusing plot, it is extremely interesting. When I watched “Casablanca” for the first time (and I watched it more than once), then the expectation of what would happen next simply spurred me on. Yes, this film is about love, and a lot of more touching scenes have already been invented by our time, but this picture for 1942 is simply a sensation - it was not for nothing that it was a resounding success.
This love triangle - Rick, Ilse and Victor - is perfectly executed by the actors. Usually an indifferent look changes to anxious and pained when Rick sees Ilse for the first time - and this can be seen even on a black and white tape. How sincerely Ingrid Bergman cries! How beautiful she is in these outfits, how great the black pianist sings at the club, what a beautiful novel developed by Ilse and Rick in Paris - God, I love everything in this film!
In addition to the love line, here you can see the political mood, hear a couple of jokes. Understand the identity of the perfect police of Reno, who prefers to be on the side on which is currently more profitable ("I have no convictions"), as well as make sure that being outside politics is sometimes the most useful thing.

In fact, this may all seem boring, hopelessly outdated and completely ordinary to someone. But films of that time beckon me, I enjoy watching the classics. Therefore, "Casablanca" occupies an honorable place in my collection.
